A morning room,
in paper.
A quiet grove,
at first light.
Chikurin means "bamboo grove" in Japanese — a word rooted in ink-wash painting, where bamboo stands for calm and quiet strength.
This bamboo wallpaper brings that stillness to your wall. Tall bamboo stalks rise in soft grey ink-wash brushstrokes, with a warm amber sun glowing low behind them and a few birds crossing the sky. Faint hills fade into the mist below, giving the design a peaceful, layered depth that suits both modern and traditional interiors.
Done in charcoal grey, soft white, and warm ochre, Chikurin Mist works beautifully as a feature wall wallpaper for living rooms, bedrooms, and entryways — a calming, nature-inspired choice for anyone looking to add a serene, Japanese-style accent wall to their home.

From homes & studios
“Lived with it for six months - the ochre warms beautifully in evening light. Worth the wait.”
“The hand-blocked variation is what makes it; you can see the paint move. We ordered two extra rolls just to keep.”
“Specced this for a client and it instantly became the room. The paper-hanger commented unprompted.”
Drawn by hand,
printed slowly.
Every motif begins as a sketch in the studio archive - a 1908 textile, a Mughal miniature, a north-light morning. We commission artists, hand-block proofs, then print to order in small runs of fifty.
No mass production. No predicting trends. Just the slow assembly of papers worth living with.
